Ability, Dis-Ability, Can Do, Can’t Do

Being able to do things, should give people a sense of satisfaction, while not being able to do things, the opposite, right?

Not really, no, nothing is as simple as that. That unnamed woman in the photograph, racing as fast as she can, in front of other, apparently ‘abled’ runners, would she feel unable to feel any satisfaction in her life? By the look on her face, I’d say she’s feeling satisfied with how she’s going so far, and happy she’s taking part in this particular race.

vBut being wheelchair bound, I’d say there are a variety of other things this woman can’t do, that all of the other people in the race, can do. But she is able to be in this race, she has her number, and giving it as best as she can. No staying inside and not taking part for this persson, and I say good on her!

Being involved, in whatever you want to be involved in, in whatever ways you can, these are things that bring satisfaction in life. I have a disability, but only in a mild form at the moment, and with luck, for the rest of my life, I don’t know. But many people who have what I have, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) are actually wheelchair bound, and many of them are keeping on with their lives however they can, not staying at home doing nothing, they’re getting into the…
