As An Atheist, What Does Easter Mean To Me?

I have to admit, Easter has always meant yummy food of particular kinds to me, and I’m happy to ignore the reasons why I should eat Easter eggs on a particular day, and Hot Cross Buns on another.

I’ve certainly known the reasons, but the details are sketchy in my mind. Eggs are about rebirth, and symbolise Jesus coming again after being nailed up, and left to die, and in fact did die.

So yeah eggs, being born, OK …

To me though, it’s good advertising to sell more products … And three or four day weekends are always nice, getting away from work, catching up with family and friends to share tasty food, what’s not to like about that?!

The shops closed thing, that means a person has to get organised, or they may run out of milk for their coffee, although there are always some places selling some needed goodies. In Australia, where I live, fuel stations always have a variety of goods for sale, but at a slightly higher price sometimes.

If you need a splash of milk in your coffee though, it’s worth paying more, am I right, or am I right! Black coffee isn’t a thing I really go for, although I can drink it if I have to. The milk has calcium, I’m an older lady, I need calcium, so white coffee for me please! (A flat white is my usual choice)

None of that has anything to do with being an Atheist, not the coffee and milk stuff… There was a time in my life when Easter meant going on a holiday weekend, either to the north…
