Being Brave? Or Is It Stupidity?
What I wish I knew before deciding I wanted to go into business, doing the things I’ve already been doing ‘for fun, or as a volunteer’, but doing htem for payment now instead.
My Business is me, basically, doing the creative things I love to do but doing them in a business-like manner. This will involve getting myself far more organised than I currently am, and also getting the money side of it all under control.
At the moment, I’m in the very early stages, slowly learning about what I’ll need to be doing, connecting with relevant people and asking questions from anyone and everyone I can find who may be able to help me.
The business is multifaceted, but it all leads to my desire to take my creative interests out into the “big bad world”. I’m already a writer, with published books, so that will be a part of who I am as a business person, but I will taking that further, and working to have speaking opportunities, where I’ll talk about my writing, and have copies of my books available to be purchased, and signed by me. And I will be looking to be paid by the organisation wishing me to speak too, if I can organise that.
So that’s one part of my business, me as a writer. I will also take the creative writing workshop opportunities I provide at the moment, and find venues also wishing to run this kind of workshop, but this time I’ll be seeking venues/organisations who will provide payment to me as the presenter.
