Despair Isn’t Going To Stop Climate Change!
When you read the news about how Climate Change is going to affect the planet, it may seem like to big a thing, and perthaps too far away from your life, and hasn’t the climate always changed, and shrug, I’m just one person …
And of course it is big, in fact not just big, it’s huge. Climate Change is capable destroying vast numbers of humans on the planet, and of many other creatures as well! There will be heat like none of us living have ever before expereienced.
According to the Australian Museum, Australia is experiencing higher temperatures, more extreme droughts, fire seasons, floods and more extreme weather. Looking around my area of Australia, I can see changes in the weather, some of them may be applicable to ‘just’ unseasonable weather, and it will even out in the long run.
So yes, the climate has always changed, in fact the Ice Age caused massive changes to the entire planet, wiping out many animal species. But mankind has also been causing changes to our planet, many of htem for the worse, also killing off animal species.
In Australia, since white people colonised the country, land clearing is responsible for the wiping out of many animal species, in fact European settlement is thought to be responsible for the extinction of 10% of the native mammals or more, with more than 20%…
