OK, I’ll be honest, I am a creative person, and I love working with words, so finding story ideas comes easily to me.

But as I think more about that, has this been an ability that has come to being because I’ve already been using a method similar to the one I’m going to outline for you here?

What I’ve been doing in the past, that I feel is related to my ‘Fast Track Your Creativity’ method, is doing five word challenges regularly with my writing group, and at a particular event put on by members of my writing group.

This is a five word challenge, where our Guest Presenter/Poet, will give five words picked at random from their own book, if they are reading from such a book, or if not, just random words.

Those present are encouraged to take the ten minutes we give them for the purpose, and write something creative in the time given. Then they are to read out what they’ve written, and the Guest picks the winner.

Because we almost always meet at a particular hotel in Gawler, the Prince Albert Hotel, and because we have good relationship with the hotel, the hotel donates a bottle of wine for us to give to the winning writer.

I’ve been happy with the words that come out of this 5 word challenge, some of the results have been awesome…
