Fundraising, and Loving It
I’m currently working to raise funds for the MS Society SA & NT, and enjoying myself hugely.
The way I’m raising funds is via a site provided by the Society when I was fundraising for earlier in the year, but since then, I’ve had a new challenge I came up for myself, a good challenge, not a scary medical one.
Yes, I have Multiple Sclerosis, but I also have a great life, with even better supporters to help me. Some of those supporters are family and friends, others are ones who do it because it’s their job, but they all do great things for me, and I appreciate that.
I’ve raised funds for this organisation in the past, and quite likely will again, and this new effort is all my own idea, not one organised by the MS Society. I am working to walk to a particular place, and back to where I started, to prove to myself I can do it, and maybe even to get keen and go a lot further another time …
The distance may not seem that far, to some people, but I remember when I was first diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2010, when I could barely walk 5 metres without needing a walking stick.
So walking 5.2 km is a big thing for me, and I hope other people can see how much it means to me. It isn’t just the money though, pride in myself and what I can do is important for sure. And if other people can be inspired to do something that will make them feel proud of themselves, what a fine thing that will be!
