How To Be Something, When You’re Not Sure What It Is

To begin, the something I’m talking about here, is being an Art Installation creator and curator. What on earth is that, you may ask. I sure asked that question, as soon as the idea of it popped into the thing I was looking into (oops, I mean researching!)

Looking at things online sure brings some crazy ideas into things, sometimes, doesn’t it? But when I thought hard about what I was (and still am) doing, it definitely looked like I was doing the initial part of Creating an Art Installation.

And as time goes on, it looks like I’m also playing around with the Curation aspects of this Art Installation process. Even today, I did some curation of this particular Art Installation, my first and only one, at the moment anyway, and it may be this one will be ongoing, and there will never be another one I create and or curate ...

To fill you in, before you take this too far, this Art Installation, which has a name, by the way, — the Redbanks RUST & FOUND Art Installation, well it got started when I found some things when taking our dog (Lenny, a retired racing Greyhound) for walks. I’d find bits and pieces of rusty bits and pieces, and put them on my front gate, just to put them somewhere …

To begin, these bits and pieces were mostly the caps of beer bottles, and then some other drink bottles. I don’t know why I was doing this, it just seemed a shame to just throw them away. But I then found some other things, slightly bigger, and then a good deal…
