I Have A Multitude Of Characters In My Head
No, this is not going to be an article about the mental illness of Multiple Personality Disorder, or Dissociative identity disorder, as it is now known. I certainly feel it is important to discuss such mental health diseases, but it is not something I know enough about to do it as well as it deserves.
So that dog in the photo of the front cover of that book, is one of the characters who lives in my head. He ‘helped me’ to write that book, Dig It!, and the other two books with it, Doggone It! & Dog Buddha’s Thoughts. I know Buster is a dog I made up, and he is not an actual dog.
He is in fact based on two real dogs, one, a Pharaoh Hound, the other a Standard Schnauzer, both now sadly not with us. I have lived with many dogs in my life, and found it a simple thing, to get my head into the head of a dog.
At the moment, I am writing the first of a series of Cosy Murder Mysteries. I have a goodly number of characters in this series, and I live with them in my head too, from my protagonist Meredith, to Steph the trans woman who it the hairdresser in town, and including the ‘love interest to be’ Travis. And there are many more as well, some for the first book, others for potential books to come.
There are also the people in my poems, some of whom are not real people, but ones I’ve made up, to suit…
