I have a small group of 'friends' fellow sexual abuse survivors, who go under the name of Precious Gems. The name came from the title of a poetry collection I published, full title of "damaged children Precious Gems" .

The collection begins with a poem I wrote about my first experience of sexual abuse when I was a child. My abuse was a 'friend of the family', and that abuse made me feel worthless and unworthy in many ways, leading to some more abuse as a teen, and then, fortunately I met the man who became my husband, and with some therapy I was able t write that poetry collection about my experiences.

Writing poetry about it helped me to move far beyond being a victim then survivor of sexual abuse, I am now thriving!
