Is Fawn The Most Common Colour For Dogs?
I’ve recently had a holiday in India, in the city of Thane, state of Maharashtra, and I saw many stray dogs that were of the fawn colour, far more in that colour than any other hue.

When we were in India, most of the dogs we saw were stray dogs, not owned dogs, on a lead and being walked. Occasionally we saw a dog with a collar, but no lead. I’m not sure of the status of such dogs.

My memory tells me there are many ‘pariah’ dogs in parts of Asia of the same fawn colouration too. And in my own country, Australia, our native dog, the Dingo, is also of the same fawn or sandy colour. So, am I correct in thinking that colour may be the most common one in the dog world?
Or is it perhaps some form of regression to a basic natural ‘dog’ colour, that means dog colours with many seasons of breeding eventually become fawn? Fawn dogs don’t immediately attract the attention, they tend to blend into whatever is going on outside. That would be an assistance to any dog that…
