New Poem Idea For My Next Chapbook

I have an intention to write another chapbook, and today I got an idea for another poem I could write that would suit that chapbook. In case you don’t know, a chapbook is a small collection of writing, often poetry, and is usually 25–40 pages only.

Before I talk about that, I’ll tell you a little bit about my first chapbook. It was my first, and it was also the first time I’ve written a poetry collection, knowing the relevant publisher loved the idea, and was very keen to see it and publish it …

That first chapbook was written when I had just broken my ankle, and then was in the recovery stage. As it happened, the woman from the publisher knew all about what it was like to have a broken ankle, and she was keen to see what I may write about it.

I wrote an interesting collection of poems, about many different aspects of what it was like to break your ankle, and then to get through the process of ‘getting over’ having that broken ankle.

And I gave this poetry collection a clever and quirky title — Angles on Ankles, which considering the pain I’d been in at various times, was very creative of me! It may have something to do with the pain killing drugs I was on!

Anyway, having done well with that first chapbook, I’ve been thinking another one might be a good idea. And so I have an idea about that. I have a pond at my place, and have a possible title for a poetry book, whether chapbook, or regular poetry collection was know decided when I first began…
