Now I Don’t Want To Be Ungrateful, But Really?

When being a semi-regular contributor to online platforms such as Medium, is it unreasonable of me to expect, or at least hope, those viewing my posts will stay there for long enough to actually earn me (the writer) at least a tiny bit of money?

If you were attracted to my piece enough to open it, can’t you stay there for just a little while longer? And even if oyu don’t like what I’ve written, why not leave me a comment telling me that. If there’s something I could have done better, as may be the case for you, given you didn’t like it enough to stay for very long at all, well, if you were to tell me more about it, it may be I could get better with my writing style and choices of topics I write about.

Information given back to us writers is manna from heaven, and if you get it, and act on it, then surely that can lead to better reading for everyone here on Medium! If you’re there for 0 seconds and gone again, all that tells me is that you’re impatient for some reason, perhaps, without filling me in on any details concerning how my written piece was not of sufficient interest to you.

If a writer is to improve, these are the details they need to get from their readers! And of course there’s always the money thing too. If I were relying on my Medium writing to pay my way, I’d be homeless with nothing to eat, wearing…
