Why I’m Nuts About This Poem!
The poem I’ll be referring to began recently, with a writing prompt at my weekly writing group I attend. I’m loving these regular writing prompts, given by another group member — Hi Alex!, and followed by all of us.
This recent one was interesting, because it was a word, a noun, that could be taken in different ways. The word was ‘Nut’, and some went with the food meaning, while others went with the engineering meaning, as in ‘nuts and bolts’.
I’m quite fond of eating nuts, and know they are healthy foods to eat, as long as I don’t eat too much in one day. My knowledge of doing things with nuts (and bolts) though, is scanty, and I have little knowledge of or things to write about, with that version.
I’ve been watching my weight, and also exercising more, in an effort to reach a particular healthy weight, that is a little lower than my current weight, also healthy weight. Does that make sense?
I mean I want to lose just a little more weight, to tone up, and slim down a teeny bit more than I am right now. My Mum, when I told her about this the other day, said she thinks I’m already at a good weight, and doesn’t think I should lose any more weight, but I’m not my Mum!
Anyway, nuts. Yes, there is a lot of nutritional goodness in these tasty savory delights, and I eat some different types of nuts almost every day, usually as a part of my lunch, and sometimes in my evening meal too. But I limit the amount of nuts I eat, because I know one of the reason we love…
