Pools Can Have Unwanted Guests, Sometimes

Our swimming pool is not a good place for Comorants to rest up. Just saying!

I have no idea why this big bird, a Great Cormorant, decided to rest on our swimming pool, but while I was thrilled to see the big bird there (never before seen here), well we had to let it know it was not welcome to be there.

This kind of bird is one we’ve never seen at our place before, so I am happily going to have to add them to the list I’ve been keeping of birds seen, since moving from the suburbs, to our country place, way back in 1988.

There were 45 different kinds of bird on that list, I think. I haven’t looked at it for a long time. Even though I see many different birds every day, they have always been birds already seen, recently.

This bird was in our swimming pool, and my husband spotted it when we arrived home, and we immediately jumped into action to encourage it to go somewhere else!

The idea of have this bird in our pool seems a marvellous and incredible thing to me, but I am not the person who tends to the pool, keeping it clean, and nor am I the most usual person who swims in the pool. Given that person being my husband for both of those things, if he wanted the Cormorant out of there, I was happy to help.
