Reasons Why My Multiple Sclerosis Isn’t Terrible

I’ve known of having MS since I was diagnosed in 2010. At the time, I thought I may have a brain tumor, or have had a stroke.

I was actually relieved to find out it was MS, that had caused my awful symptoms. Being unable to walk properly, feeling incredibly weak, particularly on my right side, these didn’t mean I was going to be nearly dead, which was what I thought might happen, given what I’d thought.

That feeling of relief was fair enough, but it was a trying time, nonetheless … Needing a walking stick to be able to walk was a new thing to me, and though I was glad I was still mobile, though slow, when using my walking stick (Mick the Stick was the name I gave the stick), well my life would have been much happier if I’d never needed that walking stick …

But Mick the Stick, and Jane the Cane, his partner, my partner, who came later, well we don’t meet up much, these days, Mick Jane and me. My MS is now well under control because of a variety of reasons. The main reason, I feel, is probably the medication I’m on these days.

When I was diagnosed with MS, I’d been offered the choice of three different medications, all of them injections. I chose the one that was to be injected into my thigh muscle once a week. I didn’t like doing those shots into the muscle, and suffered with stress…
