Trip To The Loo
The heading for this is a play on ‘Skip To My Lou’, which was an old song played at partner-stealing dances in America in around 1844. The ‘lou’ in the song is apparently based on the French word for water, which is l’eau, or it may come from the old Scottish word for love.
Whatever it was, what we’re talking about here is the ‘loo’ known to both British and Australian people, as the Restroom, the John, latrine, or a number of other more ‘slangy’ names for this important little room.
The ‘loo’ of this article is in fact the toilet, and in particular toilet related quite a few people may have troubles with, related to old age perhaps, illness or disability. The term for such issues is incontinence, when one need to go RIGHT NOW! If one isn’t able to get the said facility in time, the results can be messy and embarrassing!
As a person with Multiple Sclerosis, I am certainly one who suffers with incontinence, not every day, or week not even every month necessarily, but it is always a thing I need to pay attention to, that’s for sure.
