Voting Is So Important!
If you want things to go well where you live, it is important to do all you can to ensure that happening. And one of the things you can do is to vote when elections are happening.
Whether it’s voting for Class Captain, Council elections, or for the leader of your country, if you have the chance to vote, I say, do it — if you don’t vote, then you lose your chance to complain about the results — that’s how I see it!
In the United States of America, it is currently almost time to vote for a new President, and there are a great many words being said about the two main contenders for President.
Will it be the current Vice President, Kamala Harris, or will it be former President Donald Trump? I know which one I’d vote for, if I could vote in this election, but I can’t do that, I’m not from the USA, I’m Australian.
It’s oddly fascinating to see this process unfolding in the US right now, similar in some ways to my home country of Australia, but totally different in other ways.
The main difference as I see it seems to be a big one. In Australia, voting is compulsory, or at least having your name ticked off the electoral rolls is compulsory. In Australia, you have to do that, or you will be fined.
The fine isn’t a huge amount it’s only $20. And really, why would anyone not vote…
