Which Is Most Important? Front Cover, Back Cover, Or What’s Inside?
I’m putting this question out to the book loving universe, or at least to people who come to this site, who actually are interested in books as well as writing online.
I’m particularly thinking about this question in regards to poetry collections, because that is my current writing project is all about, a new poetry collection, that will be launched on 29 May, as long as Covid doesn’t rear its ugly head …
This new poetry collection will be published by the excellent South Australian publisher Ginninderra Press, who will make the actual decisions about what goes where in the book, but I’m happy that they have sought my input on some of those matters, and not just the poems that make up the bulk of the book …
I’ve had two poetry-related tomes published previously by this publisher, and I am confident they will produce another good looking book with my words inside of it. The font cover of the first poetry of mine Ginninderra Press printed is attractive to the potential reader because of the image in it, a puppy and a kitten together, looking so cute!
There is also a back blurb, written by a poet who responded to a request for such a thing. They said good things about what is inside the book, and that may have been an attraction, especially to people who…
