Writers Write

When you ask the question, what do writers do, the obvious answer is, as stated above, Writers Write.

They, or I should say, we, do other things too, but the main thing is that writers are the ones who write for a living, for pleasure, or because it is their obsession. Or of course for a combination of all or some of those things.

Writers write at home or when out, or I certainly know one writer/poet who gets much of his writing done in the time he spends sitting in his car, waiting to pick up his child from her school. So yes, writers write.

But writers do other things too. they observe, or give workshops. Or they teach, try things out to write about later. Or, like me, they may be a ‘Writer in Residence’. I have had that position in the past, and am doing it again, at another venue, in a different town.

Much of my time spent ‘writing’ is writing such blog posts, which may be read by other writers, or by readers, or writer/readers (a term which I say would cover most of us). Reading is an important part of the whole writing process, whether re-reading what you have written, reading for…
